The next day (Friday), Cecy and I decided to take a trip to Taxco, a facsinating town-on-a-hill, located a couple hours south-west of Mexico City in the state of Guerrero.
The above pictures may take a few moments to load, but you do not need to wait for them to finish loading if you see one you want to click on, or to select one from the table below.
Upon arriving in Taxco, we already start to get a feel for the unusual up-the-hill architecture.
The town's Cathedral of Santa Prisca
A panoramic view of the plaza in front of the Cathedral.
After naviagting the winding streets of Taxco, we find ourselves a bit further from the Cathedral, with a nice view.
Another view of the fascinating colonial architecture.
Hungry, we make our way back to the plaza and decide to try a Pizza place for a change of pace. Here we can see the cathedral, right-rear corner, from the balcony of the Pizza place.
Looking down from the balcony of the pizza place can be a dizzying experience. We are only one floor up from the plaza on the front side, but looking down from the side it is 2-3 floors down. Walking around Taxco you encounter a lot of narrow winding stairs and can find yourself several floors higher or lower in a very short amount of time.
One of the main walkways leading into the plaza. Most of the walkways a lined with vendors, and most of the vendors are selling Silver -- Taxco is well known for their silver mines and trade.
Ah! The pizza has arrived! Of course, we couldn't get pizza in Mexico without chorizo, a spiced sausage. Yum.
Yes, David, I am enjoying this pizza. No, David, you don't need to take any more pictures of me!
There was a wedding going on at the Cathedral when we got there. Looks like the wedding car!
Inside the Cathedral. The quality is not great due to lack of flash, but you get the idea.
We do a little browsing.
One final look at Taxco before Cecy and I hop the bus back to Mexico City.
